ATYPICAL FEMUR FRACTURES
Date: September 24, 2020 Speaker: Peter Ebeling
Key learning objectives:
- To understand the evidence for the absolute risk of atypical femur fracture as compared with reductions in the risk of hip and other fractures with bisphosphonate treatment.
- To understand the effects of ethnicity on AFF risk and its clinical implications. - To understand the pathophysiology of AFF, including possible genetic and bone geometric risk factors.
- To explore the possible role of increased bone mineralization in AFF. - To gain the knowledge necessary to balance the low risk of AFF with benefits of bisphosphonate therapy in making treatment decisions.
