WHAT IS OSTEOPOROSIS?
Osteoporosis is a disease which makes bones weak and fragile. This greatly increases the risk of breaking a bone even after a minor fall or bump. The disease has no obvious symptoms, so many people don’t know they have osteoporosis until they suffer a fracture. Fractures can be life-altering, causing pain, disability and loss of independence. That’s why it’s important to prevent osteoporosis!

The Scorecard for Osteoporosis in Europe (SCOPE) aims to raise awareness of osteoporosis care in Europe and permits an in-depth comparison of the quality of care of osteoporosis across the region.
It shows that osteoporosis is a major health care burden, resulting in enormous, and growing, costs to national health care systems.
HIPGEN is a multicenter phase III trial which aims to bring the first regenerative therapy for improving recovery following a surgically treated injury to market approval. The new innovative therapy proposed (which is in advanced clinical development stage) is called allogenic placental cell therapy with PLX-PAD cells for the enhanced recovery following hip fracture surgery.
