webinar BTMs

IOF invites to its BoneCast webinar of July 3, 2025, focused on the role of bone turnover markers in osteoporosis diagnosis and management.

Bone turnover markers (BTMs) have become essential tools in the diagnosis and management of osteoporosis, offering insight into the dynamic processes of bone formation and resorption. These biochemical markers provide valuable information beyond bone mineral density (BMD) measurements helping to predict fracture risk and monitor compliance with treatment. Recent advancements, including standardised nomenclature and harmonised assays, have further
enhanced their clinical utility, reaffirming their role as key reference markers in osteoporosis care.

In this webinar, our expert speaker, Prof. Etienne Cavalier, will provide a comprehensive overview of the role of BTMs in the diagnosis and management of osteoporosis, including their application in CKD-associated osteoporosis. New biomarkers and their relevance to bone metabolism and fracture risk prediction will also be presented. Finally, Prof. Cavalier will highlight the latest recommendations for the standardised nomenclature of biochemical indices of bone status.

KEY LEARNING OBJECTIVES OF THIS WEBINAR INCLUDE:

  • Reviewing the role of BTMs in the diagnosis and management of osteoporosis
  • Understanding the challenges of assessing bone turnover in CKD patients and the role of BTMs in the diagnostic evaluation
    and management of CKD-related osteoporosis
  • Presenting new biomarkers and their utility in clinical practice
  • Learning about bone status indices and their standardised nomenclature
