IOF Musculoskeletal Rare Disease Training Course

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) is pleased to announce the launch of the online IOF Musculoskeletal Rare Diseases Training Course: From Diagnosis to Care, now available on the IOF Academy to clinicians worldwide.

Originally delivered as a one-day educational event in Prague, Czech Republic, in April 2026, this compehensive course has been designed to bridge the latest scientific advances with current clinical guidance on musculoskeletal rare diseases (MSRDs).

What You Will Learn

Taught by leading international experts in rare skeletal diseases, the course offers a structured, disorder-specific programme covering:

  • The lifelong burden and impact of musculoskeletal rare diseases on patients
  • Genotype–phenotype complexity and key clinical manifestations
  • Diagnostic approaches and management strategies for major rare skeletal and metabolic bone diseases
  • Current clinical guidelines for X-linked hypophosphataemia (XLH), hypophosphatasia (HPP), and fibrous dysplasia/McCune–Albright syndrome

IOF CEO Dr Philippe Halbout stated: "Rare skeletal disorders are frequently under-recognized, leading to delays in diagnosis and treatment. At the same time, advances in diagnostics and targeted therapies are creating new opportunities to improve patient outcomes. This new course reflects IOF's commitment to improving awareness and clinical knowledge so that more patients can benefit from timely diagnosis and effective care."
