  2. IOF Musculokeletal Rare Diseases Training Course 2027

A one-day course for clinicians - Learn from leading experts !

The IOF Musculoskeletal Rare Disorders Course: From Diagnosis to Care returns for its second edition. This one-day educational event is open to all clinicians who wish to deepen their understanding of musculoskeletal rare diseases (MSRDs) and their management. Taking place on 7th April 2027 at the Viecon Center in Vienna (Austria), the course is designed to bridge the latest scientific advances with practical clinical guidance, and offers a unique opportunity to learn directly from leading international experts in rare skeletal diseases.

Through a structured, four-part programme, participants will gain insight into the lifelong impact of these conditions, as well as the complexities of diagnosis, management and patient care. The first session explores the lifetime impact of rare disorders, including osteogenesis imperfecta, achondroplasia and hypochondroplasia, and fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva. The second addresses genotype–phenotype complexity, with a focus on phosphate-wasting conditions, X-linked hypophosphataemia (XLH) and hypophosphatasia (HPP), including osteoporosis in HPP. The third covers key clinical manifestations and management strategies in hypoparathyroidism, GACI and ARHR2, osteopetrosis, and fibrous dysplasia/McCune–Albright syndrome. The course concludes with a session on outcome measures in SRDs, from techniques beyond DXA to activity tracking, bone biopsy and muscle function evaluation.
