Over the coming decades, the Asia-Pacific region will experience one of the most profound demographic shifts in human history. By 2075, the region will be home to nearly half of the world’s population, with average life expectancy rising by almost a decade. The scale of this challenge is underscored by the projected rise in osteoporosis and fragility fractures; if left unaddressed, these will increasingly strain primary care, hospitals, and long-term care systems, with escalating human and economic costs.
Professor Manju Chandran will present key findings from the 2025 APCO-IOF Asia Pacific Regional Audit, highlighting barriers to progress in post-fracture care and proven solutions, such as national registries, quality standards, and expanded Fracture Liaison Services. While grounded in the Asia-Pacific context, the Audit serves as both a benchmark and a call to action for all regions facing ageing populations, offering a clear roadmap for policymakers and practitioners worldwide to act decisively before demographic pressures intensify.
KEY LEARNING OBJECTIVES OF THIS WEBINAR INCLUDE:
• Understanding the current state of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for fragility fracture patients
• Examining demographic and epidemiological trends and their impact on health systems across the Asia Pacific region and globally
• Reviewing existing strategies and best practices to address gaps in post-fracture care and improve outcomes
• Providing insights on how this data can be useful at a global level to prevent fragility fractures and provide the best care for patients.
