The importance of vitamin D for musculoskeletal health is well documented in the scientific literature. Concentrations of 25-hydroxyvitamin D, the most commonly measured metabolite, vary widely worldwide and among individuals and are influenced by many factors, including sun exposure, skin pigmentation, and the use of supplements. However, the optimal level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D remains controversial, and recommendations vary.
In this webinar, Dr Mithal will discuss the current consensus on vitamin D supplementation in the management of bone health. He will examine the latest guidelines, considering factors such as age and baseline vitamin D status in the individual and at the population level. Recommendations and strategies for appropriate clinical management of vitamin D intake will also be discussed.
KEY LEARNING OBJECTIVES OF THIS WEBINAR INCLUDE:
• Reviewing the definition of vitamin D deficiency and the role of vitamin D supplementation in the management of bone health.
• Exploring the latest recommendations on vitamin D supplementation according to population and degree of deficiency.
• Learning about the appropriate use of vitamin D supplementation in clinical practice and effective monitoring of vitamin D status.
