IOF CSA Medal of Achievement
The IOF Committee of Scientific Advisors (CSA) Medal of Achievement honors individual researchers who have significantly advanced the field of osteoporosis through their original and outstanding scientific contributions.
The award underlines important aspects of IOF’s mission – to increase understanding and awareness of osteoporosis and to promote medical innovation. The prestigious IOF CSA Medal of Achievement is presented each year during the WCO-IOF-ESCEO congress. Candidates are nominated by members of the IOF Committee of Scientific Advisors (CSA) and the winner is selected by the Chair of the CSA with the approval of the IOF Executive Committee.

2024: Prof. Patricia Clark, Head of the Clinical Epidemiology Research Unit at the Federico Gómez Children's Hospital of Mexico - School of Medicine UNAM, Mexico
2023: Prof Jean-Yves Reginster, Outstanding Professor of Epidemiology, Public Health and Health Economics, Professor of Bioethics and Societal Medicine at the University of Liège where he also serves as the Honorary Chair of the Bone & Cartilage Metabolism Unit, Director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Epidemiology of Musculoskeletal Health & Aging at the University of Liège.
2022: Prof. Thierry Thomas, M.D., Professor of Medicine and Head of the Department of Rheumatology at the University Hospital of Saint-Étienne, France.
2021: Prof. Nancy Lane, Distinguished Professor of Medicine and Rheumatology at the University of California at Davis and Director of the K12 NIH Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health.
2020: Dr. Basel Masri, Director of the Jordan Osteoporosis Center at Jordan Hospital in Amman, a longstanding IOF Board member and RAC member representing the Middle East region.
2019: Prof. Harry Genant, Professor Emeritus of the University of California San Francisco, and Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors of Synarc, Inc, former Board member of IOF.
2018: Prof. Nicholas Harvey, Professor of Rheumatology and Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Southampton.
2017: Prof. Bess Dawson-Hughes, Professor of Medicine and Director of the Bone Metabolism Laboratory of the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Ageing at Tufts University, Boston USA.
2016: Prof. Eugene McCloskey, Professor of Adult Bone Diseases at the University of Sheffield Metabolic Bone Centre.
2015: Judy Stenmark, CEO of IOF (2012-2015), formerly CEO of Osteoporosis Australia.
2014: Prof. René Rizzoli, Professor of Medicine at University Hospitals of Geneva and Head of the Service of Bone Diseases at the Department of Rehabilitation and Geriatrics.
2013: Prof. Adolfo Diez-Perez, MD, PhD, Head Emeritus of the Department of Internal Medicine, Hospital del Mar, Director of the Bone and Joint Research Unit at the Municipal Institute of Medical Research and Professor of Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
