Today on World Osteoporosis Day, IOF is greatly honoured to share an inspiring video message from Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall President of the Royal Osteoporosis Society.

She states:

We mark this World Osteoporosis Day with hope and confidence that together, we will be able to bring an end to the silent disease that has brought such misery and pain to millions of people across the globe."

The Duchess of Cornwall became involved with osteoporosis after her mother died as a result of severe osteoporosis. This was at a time when the disease was rarely discussed or diagnosed. In her role as President of the Royal Osteoporosis Society, Her Royal Highness has been a dedicated advocate for osteoporosis patients in the UK, and indeed worldwide.

The entire IOF family is most grateful for this message of support which will enhance all our efforts to put a spotlight on the immense burden of osteoporosis around the world. We know that IOF members in the Committees of National Societies and Scientific Advisors will be undertaking initiatives and events around the globe and will take great inspiration from this World Osteoporosis Day message.
