We are excited to share the news that IOF President Professor Cyrus Cooper has been announced as the highest-ranking UK author, and 16th among global authors, across all fields of medical research. Professor Cooper’s top ranking is based on an extraordinary H-index of 241, with 289,659 citations and 2,150 publications.  

The Research.com ranking lists leading scientists across all medical disciplines, based on a meticulous examination of over 65,743 medical researcher profiles. The rankings reflect the H-index, a quantitative metric based on analysis of publication data using publications and citations to provide an estimate of the importance, significance, and broad impact of a scientist’s cumulative research contributions.

Cyrus Cooper is Professor of Rheumatology and Director of the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre; and Professor of Musculoskeletal Science at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences, University of Oxford, UK. He leads an internationally competitive programme of research into the epidemiology of musculoskeletal disorders, most notably osteoporosis. He has published extensively on osteoporosis and rheumatic disorders and pioneered clinical studies on the developmental origins of peak bone mass.
