IOF SRD Training Course Prague

A free one-day course for clinicians, held at the O2 Universum in Prague and offered virtually, attracted more than 520 registrants from around the world. The event was chaired by renowned global experts Professor Maria Luisa Brandi and Professor Lothar Seefried.

The IOF Skeletal Rare Disorders Course: From Diagnosis to Care proved highly successful. Designed for clinicians seeking to deepen their understanding of skeletal rare disorders (SRDs) and their management, the course aimed to bridge the gap between the latest scientific advances and practical clinical guidance. It provided a valuable opportunity for participants to learn directly from internationally recognized experts in rare skeletal diseases.

Through a structured, disorder-specific programme, participants gained insight into the lifelong impact of these conditions, as well as the complexities of diagnosis, management, and patient care. The programme covered major rare skeletal and metabolic musculoskeletal diseases, with dedicated sessions exploring disease burden, genotype–phenotype relationships, key clinical manifestations, and management strategies. It also reviewed current guidelines for X-linked hypophosphataemia (XLH), hypophosphatasia (HPP), and fibrous dysplasia/McCune–Albright syndrome.

Dr Philippe Halbout, CEO of IOF, stated: “It is vitally important that healthcare professionals have opportunities to advance their understanding and clinical skills in diagnosing and treating rare musculoskeletal diseases. With its extensive global network, IOF is uniquely positioned to promote awareness, knowledge, and clinical guidance that can improve outcomes for people living with these conditions. The strong response to this course highlights the significant need and interest within our global community.”

IOF extends its sincere thanks to all speakers and moderators, with special appreciation to the Course chairpersons, Professors Brandi and Seefried, for their leadership and dedication in bringing this initiative to life.

IOF also gratefully acknowledges the generous support of the following companies: Alexion, Kyowa Kirin, Alesta Therapeutics, Ascendis Pharma, and BioMarin.

The training course will be made available for on-demand access via the IOF Academy by the end of June 2026. Further information will be shared through IOF communication channels.
